South of the city, calmer and greener, right by the Marble Mountains and Non Nuoc Beach. This is where I host. It trades nightlife for quiet and space, while keeping the beach and the airport a short drive away. Best for families and groups who want privacy.
City center and Han River
Restaurants, markets, and the Dragon Bridge fire show on weekend nights. Lively and central, but you are a short ride from the beach rather than on it.
Hotel or villa
For a couple, a beach hotel is easy. For a family or a group of friends, a private villa wins. You get space, a kitchen for early breakfasts, and your own pool no one else shares. After a beach morning, that pool saves the hot afternoon.

Between My Khe Beach and the city sits An Thuong, a grid of small streets packed with cafes, bars, brunch spots, and western-friendly food. Younger travelers and remote workers like it for the walkable buzz and the short hop to the sand. It is livelier and more compact than the quiet south. Good if you would rather wander out for coffee than drive.
How long to stay in Da Nang
Two to three nights covers the beach, the Marble Mountains, and a day trip. Add nights if you want Ba Na Hills or a slow pace with kids. Many guests pair Da Nang with Hoi An, about 45 minutes south, and split their stay between the two. A few nights of city and beach, then a few of lantern-lit old town, makes a balanced trip.
Getting around once you are here
Grab taxis are cheap and everywhere, so you do not need a car. Many guests rent bicycles near the beach for short hops. The city is flat and easy. From the quiet south, the beach is a walk and the city a ten to fifteen minute ride. Keep daily plans simple and the distances stay small.
Da Nang or Hoi An as your base
Choose Da Nang for the big beach, the city energy, and the easy airport run. Choose Hoi An for the lantern-lit old town, the slower pace, and the riverside dinners. There is no wrong answer. If you cannot decide, do both: it is the most common choice my guests make, and the short drive between them makes it painless.
